The Pop Stop: Fall Out Boy, Rosalía & Rauw Alejandro, & More Deliver This Week’s Hidden Gems

Published: Friday 24th Mar 2023 by Ryan

Readers of That Grape Juice know how passionate we are about music – whether that be past or present.

However, unlike our other segments – Retro Rewind, TGJ Replay, and From The Vault – The Pop Stop is the most in-depth look at Pop songs that may have flown under the radar over the last week that you should know, rather they be from music’s biggest stars or those on the rise.

This week, we want to highlight cuts from Fall Out Boy, Rosalia & Rauw Alejandro, NCT Dream, and Catie Turner .

Join us inside…

Fall Out Boy – Fake Out

Fall Out Boy is back with their new album ‘So Much (For) Stardust,’ and it is a reunion in many ways. Not only do they go back to their early label of Fueled By Roman, but they also teamed up with Neal Avron again. The result: their best album in over a decade and the prime example of this is the song ‘Fake Out.’ A nostalgic number about love not working out, the production is straight out of albums like ‘From Under The Cork Tree’, or ‘Infinity On High.’ Easily, a must-hear song, ‘Fake Out’ is the perfect showcase of what Fall Out Boy does best.

Rosalía & Rauw Alejandro – BESO

Rosalía & Rauw Alejandro have joined forces for three new songs. Among them is the vibrant and textured, ‘BESO.’ Complete with a reggaeton backbeat, it is complimented by accidents of strings and gentle strums of guitar. All about the romance between the two, the song is a true standout in both of their discographies.

NCT Dream – Beatbox

K-pop supergroup NCT Dream are gearing up to do their first show in the United Kingdom on March 28 and to commemorate the occasion, the boys have released the English version of their song ‘Beatbox.’ Taking it back to the 90s, the song is dripping with an old school hip-hop sound and cheerful chorus. A song of the summer contender, ‘Beatbox’ makes the old fresh once more.

Catie Turner – Hyperfixations

Rising singer-songwriter Catie Turner has released the first taste of music from her two-part collection of songs called ‘Comedy & Tragedy.’ Entitled, Hyperfixations the song is a cathartic therapy session set to the tune of bouncing synths and fizzy guitars. A promising introduction to the project, Turner delivers a true pop banger.
